About me
Hello! My name is Matthew Kassamani and I help individuals reconnect with their physicality and improve their movement quality.
I want to help you improve your natural movement in a way that fits seamlessly into your daily life. By doing this, "training" will feel more like a part of your everyday routine.
The goal is to create a strong, flexible body that can handle whatever life throws at you, helping you feel more energetic, creative, and enthusiastic.
My first love was basketball and I pursued it single-mindedly for over a decade. Coming out the other side of that, I realised I had narrowed my physical movement options drastically as a result of over-specialisation. Simple activities like squatting, sitting comfortably on the floor, or lifting my arms were no longer available to me. I experienced knee and back pain. I've overcome these issues through a multidisciplinary approach. I now advocate for a well-rounded training perspective, drawing from strength and conditioning, nutrition, Hatha yoga, calisthenics, mobility training, evolutionary biology, meditation, and psychology.
Outside of work I love to read (wherever my curiosity takes me), listening to and discovering new music (recommendations always welcomed), taking in the occasional show (circus and dance mostly), and spending time with the people closest to me.
I like to offer a calm, attentive and enjoyable practice where we can form an honest and productive working relationship.
